svalbard & the polar region

The Svalbard Islands are located in the Arctic Ocean, halfway between Norway and the North Pole. Here, you will find untouched arctic wilderness and unique wildlife in a setting that is both rugged and fragile at the same time. Svalbard has approximately 3000 inhabitants and 3000 polar bears. An exploration heaven. Also, be surprised by the northernmost town in the world, Longyearbyen. It has an extrodinary range of cultural activities and opportunities, such as concerts, shows, festivals and exhibitions. In Longyearbyen you will also find high-quality restaurants, a local brewery and one of the biggest and best wine cellars in northern Europe.
